I'm speaking at SQLintersection 2016
I’ll be speaking at SQLintersection this spring in Orlando! It’s gonna be fun on a bun. [caption id=“attachment_982” align=“alignright” width=“300”] Totally not giving away free taquitos[/caption]
Two Regular Sessions
I’m presenting two regular sessions - Database Lies We Tell Ourselves and Database Design for Software Architects. In Database Lies We Tell Ourselves, I’m going to shed light on common misconceptions that permeate our industry and provide high level solutions to these problems. This is an architectural overview of mistakes that we all make every day; by the end of the hour, you’ll have an idea how to correct these mistakes. In Database Design for Software Architects, I’m taking the opposite approach. We’re looking at SQL Server from the opposite side - how can we think about the database up front? I’ll still be talking about patterns you can use, but it’ll be from the perspective of a software architect looking doing something new. The idea is to have some new techniques for safely approaching database design.
Two Workshops
Yeah, you read that correctly! Brent Ozar and I are going to be giving two sessions. **Developers Guide to SQL Server Performance - **We’re going to give you a whirlwind tour of SQL Server performance. We’ll show you some awesome scripts that will make it easier to find your worst queries, how to find performance bottlenecks, and take a look at querying anti-patterns. This is happening on Sunday, April 17. **Leveraging SQL Server in the Cloud - **I’ve heard that this cloud computering thing might just catch on ;) In this session, we’re going to talk about how to make the right choices for moving into the cloud. We’re covering everything you’ll need to get started - from deployment model to best practices to feature selection to scaling. You can learn all about clouds on Friday, April 22.
Discounts and Stuff!
If you sign up and use my name as your discount code, you can get $50 off the price of admission. That’s like a free pile of taquitos.
